Good book for the NAPLEX.

It was recommended to me by a professor for the NAPLEX. I have read the RXPrep as well. APhA is more detailed in some subject matter while RxPrep is easier to read but I will recommend combination of both books for the review (this of course depends upon your foundation in pharmacy school). I mean if you did good in pharmacy school then RxPrep is enough but if you do not have good foundation or in some cases a foreign pharmacy graduate then read both books. Some topics are better discussed in APhA while others are better in RxPrep.

Okay, but not NAPLEX prep worthy

I got this book free when I renewed my APHA membership with the dual 4th year and 1st year as new practitioner offer they had. I am glad it was free. The book has chapters that cover math, nuclear pharmacy, oncology, and some other non-frequently, or rather not in-depth, covered topics. My understanding is that the depth that they cover is not what is needed for NAPLEX in 2016. Halfway through the book they do start to cover topics based on disease state. The review for them is so-so. I was also given online access to their tests and additional info via their website. Currently, I cannot attest to the quality of the information provided there, but if the book is indicative of the quality of review, I won't waste my time. Which leads me to my next issue with current NAPLEX review books - they are not up-to-date for the Nov 2016 NAPLEX. Reviews that I have been reading on Amazon have not been helpful for those needing to take the exam. Especially those from Amazon Vine reviewers, which have been people who are either not pharmacists or pharmacy students; or they are from pharmacists who have not had to sit for the exam in several years. Which again, the exam style has changed quite a bit over the past 5 years; especially as of 2016. I do not understand why Vine offers have not been extended to those with a verified student account and a history of purchases for pharmacy items.
All of that aside, as a PharmD waiting for my ATT # to register for the NAPLEX, this book has been the least helpful. My notes and some of my quick reference books I purchased have been more helpful. I have also used NAPLEX nuggets for a commonly used meds review. If you can get this for free or borrow it, it is a good supplement. As a sole review for NAPLEX, I do not feel this is up to par.
